June 2024 - Thank you to the Letchworth Quakers

Thank you to Letchworth Quakers for their kindness and support at Howgills Friends Meeting House who donated all the proceeds of their open day on Saturday, 15th June 2024 to Growing People.

They raised an amazing £445.76 for Growing People. They also purchased our wonderful lavender plants, that Growing People nurture and sell, to put in their gardens at Howgills (42 South View, Letchworth SG6 3JJ) for the local community to enjoy.

Every donation will go towards providing horticultural therapy for people in the Hertfordshire area who are living with mental health conditions. We can't thank you enough!

June 2024 - New Volunteering Opportunity! - Saturday mornings gardening at Growing People at The Sadie Centre. Starting from Saturday 6th July, 9.30am to 12.30.

If you would like to volunteer with us, but volunteering during the week is difficult for you, we have a new volunteering session starting on Saturday mornings from 9.30am to 12.30.

By volunteering with us, you will help to keep our horticultural therapy garden, and the Sadie Centre as a whole, a safe and welcoming space for our gardeners  (our service users) and all the other users of our site. This means that we can focus on our vital work supporting adult living with mental ill health.

No experience necessary – we welcome all levels of gardening knowledge, all you need is the enthusiasm to give it a go and learn on the job!

You are welcome to bring your own gardening gloves, though we can provide them if needed. You'll need sturdy footwear and suitable clothes for the weather and mucky jobs. Otherwise, we provide all equipment.

November 2023 - Help support Growing People by ordering our Handmade Christmas Wreaths

Growing People has continued to support people with long term mental health issues all during the year, providing horticultural therapy, opportunities for gardening and social contact to fight loneliness and isolation.

As always at this time of the year, you can help us to continue our work by buying one of our beautiful Christmas evergreen wreaths, which are specially made by our team of volunteers using freshly foraged local foliage. We have three styles of wreath this year: Two full ones and a new half wreath style.
